I‘m deeply passionate about everything from typography to illustration to motion graphics. My visual work is rooted in curiosity and every day is an experiment. I like to surprise myself and invite you into my world of wonderment.
My studies led me via the ‘Akademie der Bildenden Künste‘ in Nuremberg where i was busy with creative paper making and screen printing to Karlsruhe. Upon graduating from the ‘Hochschule für Gestaltung‘, where I was taught by Gunter Rambow, Kurt Weidemann and Tania Prill, I embarked on my journey as a designer. My other teachers were nature, a sewing machine, a supboard, a piano and New York. By the way, I simply loved working surrounded by skyscrapers.
Some fine day I met Rike Michaelsen and I launched the design studio so splendid with her. Since designing for so splendid I never again had the feeling I am working – I am simply enjoying. Mister Huxley put it so nicely: Lightly, lightly – it’s the best advice ever given to me.
Ever since my visit to Tokyo to see friends, I‘ve been head over heels for Japan. Years later I discovered a fascinating book of old Japanese crests known as Kamons that truly mesmerised me. This experience ignited my inspiration to create artworks featuring these cherished symbols in my unique style.
